Stages of My Life in Six Words

Time for Writer's Workshop!

The prompt I chose: Write about a significant time in your life in just six words

Ever the rebel, I decided to write six words about several significant times in each decade of my life.

Childhood:
Not all that carefree, Mommie Dearest

Teen years:
Married at 18; what a dope

Twenties:
Housewife, mom of two, disinterested spouse

Thirties:
My friend became his - divorce imminent
Nomadic lifestyle, many moves cross country
Surprise baby, lousy second marriage - yikes!

Forties:
Bipolar adventures and Asperger's with Boy
Daughters grown, just two of us
Grandchildren arrive, more fun than parenting!

Fifties:
Online dating continues, finally met Mister
Economic downturn results in chronic unemployment
Marriage nets stepkids and grandkids! Yippee!
Back to square one: Housewife again
Blogging keeps me sane...maybe not

  2. Yea, I couldn't narrow it down to 6 words either so I went with the family recipe.

  3. Blogging keeps me sane - maybe not! HA that is great! I keep telling myself that is what is keeping me sane too!

  5. I did more than one for this prompt also.

I married my first husband when I was 18. Not sure which one of us was the dope, me or him.

  6. Seems you've been through some things. Those 6 word memoirs are really some powerful things (or they can be). I'll have to read more of your blog to determine if you are, indeed, staying sane. ;)

  7. These become haiku-like when linked together. This six word memoir thing could be addictive. And I had enough addictions already.

  9. I agree with the haiku comment--nearly poetic. A very interesting and creative way to sum up what sounds like a roller-coaster life.

    Cheers.

  14. Great job! I love the rebellious thing you did. And the last line, I have to ask myself, too. Does blogging keep me sane or make me dysfunctional? ;)
